ICT - Final Reflection

Finally, it has come down to the last piece of reflection, yet its like 2 weeks later from the last AED class. Why ? well ..... cause I had to complete my other reports first ....

Throughout the SCLP creation process, fortunatly, Shiting and I did not encounter any idea crashing situation. I do not know why this is the case. Maybe its due to our personalities, cause we are both open to all sorts of ideas. hahha ... Besides, Shiting is a very efficient person and super super super artistic person. Just look at the her drawing in the video and you will realise how good she is.

Anyway, the only 2 major changes for the SCLP were the giving up the flash idea and making use of wiki to put everything together. The reason for giving up flash was that its really too time consuming. Of course, we went through a process of looking for the ways to make the video after giving up the flash and fianlly we decided on converting PPT using Windown Media Player.

I have learnt how to create a lesson. Well, some people might want to say that we should have learnt in our e learning week task, but the SCLP allowed me to look from a more complete angle. I learn to think from the perspective of the students, learn to understand that both the students and us are grown up with different backgrounds, learn that every activity does not have to use IT, but has to maximise students' self learning desire. Most importantly, I learn how to learn to use new softwares on my own. In fact, I did not realise that learning to use new softwares can be this easy. Usually, I just need to type in the things I want to do in YahooAnswer there will be answers for me and if i want to find out more on the software, I can google it or read up on the software's webpage.

Well, as for the 1st thing that will pop out from my mind for this module -------- of course that will be SCL !!!

That is like the heart and soul of this module. The very first thing I will think of when looking at a lesson plan. Just like what I have stated in the previous post, its not how sophiscated the softwares or technologies you are using, its how student center the activities are.

WEEK 11

Throughout the whole process, especially after the meeting with Prof Tan, I started to realise that a good SCLP is not about how sophiscated your SCLP is, it is more of how it can help the students to learn on their own.

In our SCLP, I believe its the video that drawn by ourselves and recorded by us using Audacity captures most people's eyes. However, I believe its the scaffolding questions and the rubrics in other parts of the wikipage that can help the students to learn on their own.

Besides, we also realise its very difficult to design a good rubrics cause we have to determine what students' levels of proficiency. This is really a big headache, cause without real life experiences, it is really hard to know what are the current level of our kids nowadays.

Week8

Well, this reflection is from a Chinese talk show I just watched from TVBS. Anyway, there is a "well known"(cause I did not know who he is before the show) management consultant. He talked about the difference in the western offices and asian office and 1 of his sentences really hit me. "the hierarchy in Asian is too strong, everyone just sits in the office and waits to be told what to do"

Isn't that what we are used to since we were young? His words highlighted the probelm we have in our education system and at the same time explain the reason why SCL is introduced, hoping to develop thinking individual who are able to take initiative and responsibility.

It is because SCL allows the students to have the chance to decide what they want to learn and when to learn, so they will be able to learn to take responsibilty and use their own creativity. Therefore, I need to go back to think and my my SCLP to be something that allows the students to take charge in their learning and provide the students to have the chance to develop their thinking and creative skills.

Week 6

Again, I am late with this post again.

However, I do have something really important that I MUST share here. As we went through lots of online learning resources by MOE in the last week's lesson.

I was pretty "surprised" with the Chinese online resources provided there. Taking eVideos and eduMall as examples. It is because, they are mostly not up to date. Well, of course I am not saying old stuffs are not good. It can only tell something which is ----- not many people are using the online sources. It really makes me start to wonder how come people do not want to make use of the sources that are free to them? They are not told there is such a place?

The other issue that catch my attention is the Happy Town website. Firstly, I have to agree that it is really a great idea to integrate blogging with students' compositions. However, as I read through the posts by students, I realised that all these posts were mostly from few certain schools in Singapore only. Where are the rest of the schools? Isn't it part of the MP to integrate ICT into students' learning? Besides, I believe the concept of this website is pretty student centered

All these allow me to realise that it is still up to people to make this ICT integrate SCL work. If we are not told about the resources and we are not willing to try out the new ways, a plan can only be a plan. It can never put into practice.

Despite the fact that SA do has its flaws, i still think its useful as it do create awareness in us that not to "copy and past" or at least rephase it.
If not, at least we will start to look for book reference which is more credible rather than lazily sit in front laptop or PC just to type in some keywords at http://www.google.com/
Not saying online source not good, just ... well ... depends on the website .. some of them are less reliable
As for the improvment, of course I hope its database can be increased (hmm ... I am not sure if it is a good thing to enlarge its database size)
Secondly, I hope it can recognise people's effort of doing time consuming citation, meaning if people do cite the source properly then it should not consider that as a match, cause I have already self declared its not my own idea !!!

Week 5 - Safe Assignment

To be honest, Safe Assignment is really a easy software to use, all you do is just "browse" select the file, upload and wait for around 10min before coming back for the results and report. It is a much easier way for the teachers to check how much the students have copied and at the same time allow the students the chance to judge themselves.

However, I do find out some bugs or disadvantages of this software. As this is already my second time using this, so I tried to delete all my reference and uploaded my file. Even though I get 33% match in the end, those matches are from the questions and lesson plan templete. This shows that it does not matter if I do reference or not as long the system does not find any match, it will not count it in.

Another finding is that, it seemed to be able to detect the parts that can match with websites. It is because that I did use some journals and books references but none of them come out in the match even I have deleted the citations in my essay.

According to my findings, I can say that this software is not really that perfect afterall, there still room for improvement. Unless my rephasing technique has already reached the superior level. hahaha

Of course there is no software that is perfect, afterall it is just a tool to help us to save time and effort.

Besides, I do not think that having a same match will mean plagiarism. It really depends on each invidual case because I might have used the ideas from my own blog and thus come out as a match, so does that mean I plagiaris ?? Even there is a match with other people's blogs, cannot it be possible that 2 of us are thinking the same thing? Therefore, I think other than looking at the matching percentages, teachers also have to look at what are the sentences that having the match because some of them are really common ideas.

WEEK 4

Think its abit late to blog for this week's reflection.(think I should say this is the last week's blog)

What took me such a long time to blog the reflection for week 4? Well, I feel sort of lost here.

All along, I thought I know what SCL is. BUT !!! As the time to complete the assigment 1, I start to have difficulties in putting everything I know into the assigment. I am not confident that what I have believed in are correct and I am not sure how to put what I have known into the assigment.

Well, I have known that SCL is actually learner centered learning where teachers must design the lessons from the students' perspectives. They no longer deliver, instead they guide. This base on my readings come from constructivism as everyone learns differently. Thus, I think its somehow relates to cognitive learning. Besides, I think it also helps to develop crtical and creative thinking skills. These 2 skills are 2 of the most important skills that educators nowadays hope to pass to our future generations.

They all looked somehow related, BUT somehow I just cannot put them together. Is there really a sequence of which theory or concept come out earlier than others or they are actually the same things? The reason why there are different names is because we look at it from different angles eg, teacher's view, researcher's view etc ... or .. maybe I am just confusing myself.

Well, hopefully, I can start to figure this thing out soon, cause AED 104 is not the only module that has assigment during the e-learning week.

WEEK 3

After the demonstration of ComicLife by the 1st group, SCL has a new meaning to me. For the past few weeks, I had thought that SCL is how teachers can engage their students in learning by various means. However, after going through the demonstration I found out that its not only engaging the students in their own learnings. It is also about choosing the right tools and equipping them with the right skills for them to make their own learning meaningful. Just like what I have learn last semester, meaningful learning (Ausubul) is the key to effective learning. The tools do not just help the teachers to make the lessons more interesting, they also help the students to make connections between the knowledge and learn on their own.

Just like what Pro Tan has mentioned in the class, ICT is not a "must" for SCL, drawing board and markers can do the same job. Thus, it is important for us to make sure the usefulness of the softwares or whatever technologies in SCL before we are going to use it in the lessons.

Pro Tan also mentioned another important point in the class, which is the importance of the preparations before the class. It is such an important step, but yet I believe that most people would overlook it most of time. It is because we will just "assume" everything should be able to work. However, base on my past experiences in Poly or even now in NIE, there were many times things did not work out the way it supposed to be. eg, connection failure, file corrupted, etc ...

Besides, it is actually quite amazing that they are actually more points need to be taken care off compare to the traditional makers and paper's way. Making sure of wireless network is ready for use is already challenging enough especially when most of us have no idea of how to do it. Of course there should have a technician, but what is he or she happen to be on leave? Guess I am just thinking too much over here.

Lastly, after reading the Modeling with Computers as Mindtools, I agree that the advancement of IT, especially the introduction of internet has changed the way we "should" teach. Teaching should no longer be limited to transmitting of knowledge, because we can easily get the information we want by just typing few keywords on the keyboard. It is much more important to teach the students about critical and creative thinking skills. This is where the computer softwares can be useful, but just like what it mentions in the article, it also has its limitation and disadvantages. It is all up to the user and how he or she wants to use it.

Just remember the 2 key words, "help" and "options" They are just 1 of the options that can help in teaching. That's all.

By the way, I start to wonder how do we choose the right software to help students? Of course they must be easy enough for them to use, but the problem is, how easy is considered easy to students and not too easy that they lose their interests in using that.

Hmm ... that's something I would like to find out in the coming weeks.

WEEK 2 - COFT

Firstly, I have to say that I am really impressed by the displays in COTF, despite the fact that there are some flaws in the Bacterial identification part.

However, after giving it a thorough thought on the way back home, I began to doubt if it is really effective to have all these technologies in the classroom to make current learning more student centered.

It is true that these wireless or bluetooth technologies can make learning easier and more mobile and at the same time save teachers' trouble of taking attendances. However, is it really student centered? I am pretty sure that no student will like to be known their whereabout after their classes. All these technology have failed to ensure students' privacy.

Besides, I believe that we do not need all these technologies to achieve the concept of SCL, they just make learning more accessible and looked more sophisticated. No matter how "hi-tech" it looked, it still has to come down to a point of simulating students' interests so that they will want to learn and learn on their own. Thus, the teachers are still the most important elements when it comes to learning cause they are the ones who control the technologies and make them to create a more interesting and appropriate learning environment for the students to carry out their own learnings.

AED 104 - Week 1 Reflection

Before starting the first ICT class, I had thought this class is going to teach us on how to use the softwares, like Photopshops, Powerpoint, to help us on our future teaching careers. Thus, I hoped that I would be able to learn how to create flash and use Photoshop before starting of the module. Besides, my impressions with ICT is just about conducting the lessons with Powerpoint slides and videos.

However, after the first lesson, everything seemed to be almost completely different from what I had known. According to my tutor, there will not be anything lesson on any of the program, instead I was introduced to the term of "Student Centered Learning" where teachers no longer teach instead they facilitate and "Master Plan II" which aims to enhance educational processes and structures through the use of ICT. Personally, I think the Student Centered Learning concept is a bit like the "teach less, learn more" (http://www.moe.gov.sg/bluesky/tllm.htm) concept by MOE in 1997. The teachers are asked to spend less time on teaching and more time to guide the students in their own researches and engage them in self learning. This is to help the students to develop their critical and creative thinking skills as these are the 2 of the most important skills that educators want hope to equip the future generations with in the world today.

Thus, ICT is not about using sophisticated IT tools, it is more about using the most appropriate IT tools to assist you inside and outside the classes to allow students to get the information correctly and easily, and simulate the interests of the students at the same time. That is why it is called "Student Centered Learning" rather than "IT Centered Learning". After all, IT is just a tool, a tool to help the students in their learning.

Besides of SCL and MPII, the word "referencing" has been mentioned quite a few times in the class too. Well, it is not a new term for me as my lecturers in poly always asked for that, but still that is still a headache for me to do citations especially when the length of the essays have increased many many times in NIE compare to poly time.

It is just the first week of the school and I already started to feel stress !!!

Finally, its the day we have been looking for .... the start of our Hong Kong trip. I have been there once but that was like 10 ears ago, cannot remember what is over there.

Hei Hei Hei ... we finally reach HongKong ... I looked a bit tired.

The CityGate ... just next to the airport ... the 1st shopping mall we visited ... all the shops here are factory outlets which means big big discounts !!! .... ranging from ESPRIT, GIORDANO, LEVIS, AIDIDAS, NIKE, NEW BALANCE, CK, QUICKSILVER ... etc ....

We went to Mongkok at night .... its ... simply ..... CROWDED !!!!

It is our hotel lobby ..... The L Hotel ... a 5 star hotel oh .... still under construction ... so its only half price .. .hahaha

This is our hotel room ... at 35th floor oh~~~ the picture next to it is the view from our room ... I wonder when will I have the money to buy an apartment with a view like this .... hahah

Its getting nervous

I am not sure why that I am getting nervous as the date for my Hong Kong trip comes near. It is for sure that it is not my 1st time taking an airplane and not the 1st time take Cathay Airline too. I just cannot help it but to feel nervous. Maybe I am afraid that I will not know where to go once I reach Hong Kong and spend all my 5 days there in the Hotel. That is the worst scenario I can ever think of. Anyway, I am sure that if I could have a good time in University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia with my attachment partner in my Polytechic end of 2nd year, I definitely can have a hell of good time with my mei in Hong Kong. Don't worry, I am experienced .... hahah ... I mean ... experience in travelling and exploring.

By the way, I cannot help myself but getting happier every time Chien Ming Wang started for Yankees as he just could not stop winning and improving. He just strike out 10 New York Mets' batter in his last outing which was a career high for him. I cannot wait to watch his next game which is against San Francisco Giants this coming Sunday. I wonder how he will fare when he face Barry Bonds. Unfortunately, I will be in Hong Kong having fun that day. So .... sorry ... I am going to miss it

Where to go when it comes to currency exchange

Today, I went to Hasan's Global Money Exchange which he claims everyone in Ngee Ann Polytechnic knows about his family's shop to exchange for Hong Kong Dollar and a last minute RM for Shi Ting (my mei's best friend).

It was raining at that time and I was so lucky that when I reached the DBS bank in Peninsula Plaza, all of the 3 ATMs are down, yes, it was not 1 or 2, it was ALL 3 of THEM were showing blank screen on those small LCD monitors. What a luck I was having. So I had to run to the Fu Nan the IT Mall to withdraw out the Singapore dollar.

After going through the rain and crowded IT mall, I thought I could finally get down to money exchanging business. However, Hasan's don't know what relative or friend could only give me 1000 dollar note instead of the 500 ones i requested from him early in the morning. He told me that there were 3 banks issued 1000 dollar note in Hong Kong, Standard Charted Bank, HSBC and Hong Kong Shanghai Bank. The ones that people refuse to accept are from HSBC and Hong Kong Shanghai Bank, so the Standard Charted ones which he gave me are the ones that can be used. I was like ... hmm ... really or not, but since they offered such a good rate, so i just accepted them. However, I called Hasan again and complained to him, to my surprise, Hasan is indeed a good businessman as he immediately called back his brother and asked him to get the 1000 dollar note to change to small ones. I was so touched and feel a bit Pai Sei. Just became a Singaporean not long ago and started to complain like one already. haHaHaha

Anyway, Hasan's shop did give a very good rate. I am doing a free advertisment for him HahahHaahaHaaAHahAhaHAHaHa !!! AHAHAHahAaAhaha !!!

1st HOMERUN for Taiwanese Player in MLB

Mark down 13 Jun 2007 as 1 of the most special day in Baseball history, cause the 1st ever homerun by a Taiwanese player in MLB !!! On top of that, its by a pitcher who is last one in the homerun possibility list as batting is never their specialities. Kuo Hong Chih !! His name will be remembered forever not only being the 1st Taiwanese player to hit a homerun in MLB but also he is the 3rd player to hit the homerun for LA Dodger in a series of extremly rare back to back to back 3 homeruns. All of them come from the 1st pitch of each batter by the pitcher John Maine from New York Mets

A sleepless night for me ... why??

Cause 2 of the best pitcher for Taiwan are both starting for their teams (Yankees and LA Dogers) in few hours time. That why I guess I am nervous. Especially, Wang is facing the challenge of Brandon Webb from Arizona Diamondbacks. Not only they both use sinkers as their primary weapon, but Brandon is even better than Wang as he won the Cy award last season when Wang only managed to be runner up. However, I do really hope that Wang Chien Ming can once again show me that he is also a Cy pitcher to be in the future and can pitch as good as Brandon or even better than him.

As for Kuo, all the best for his 1st win in the season tomorrow. If not because of his 2 tommy john surgeries. I bet he would be better than Wang right now.

By the way, we are going to watch ZODIAC tomorrow with my mei. We have been wanting to watch it for a long time. Especially, last Saturday, where Weilin and us could not get the tickets at Cineleisure, so we went to LIDO, yet we could not get the movie tickets, so Weilin (luckily she was driving that day) drove us to Vivo City to try our luck at Golden Village, but but but ... to our horror ... there was still no ticket !!!!

What is happening nowadays ?? Is it because internet booking for movie tickets are so easy and we, Singaporean (now i am a Singaporean ... haha .. I can change inbetween) simply have nothing to do during weekend except for watching movies that all the cinemas are full packed during weekends ??

I hate it when its crowded ....

It has been a long time since I last paid attention to a NBA final since the retirement of Jordan cause I simply do not like to see big guys like Duncan or O'Neil muscle in the pain or Kobe Bryan's arrogant face.

However, this year's playoff has caught my attentions with its continous surprises. From the 1st seeded Dallas lost to the last seeded Golden State to the guy who finally matured and brought his team into the 1st NBA final appearence .... LeBron James !!

Before he joined NBA, many people had already said he would be the next Jordan. All he needed was time to develope and now I can see him as an almost finished product. Just look at his performance in the GAME 5 of the Eastern Conference Final where he single handed taking on the whole Detroit Pistons. Time to time, Pistons were in the lead but time to time again he made Detroit's defence defenceless. 1 to 1, 2 on 1 or even 3 on him, it all seemed to be nothing to him. He just continue to put the ball into the basket, no matter how many defenders were guarding him. From here, I can see Jordan's shadow, cause that was what Jordan always did.

Just share a few videos and you will know how unstoppable he is...

Just like my label, I will be alone in the big big microbilogy lab for 1 whole week. It all because my supervisior is having a course this week and my partner is once again serveing the Singapore government for 1 week in the jungle.

So far the 1st day, I already start to miss my partner, cause I did everything on my own and that left me with no time to do my own staffs. I was basically occupied the whole day, from taking samples from the production lines, doing the bioburden and water testings to counting the colonies from the cultured plates and even doing environmental testings. If there was just one more person there, I would be much more relieve. hahah ... don't worry, I believe that I will be more relax tomorrow onwards ... cause I have finished all the weekly testings by today.

Finally, my mei has finished her 3 interviews with Chatered, SSMC and Hitachi, even though she kept saying that she does not think she will be selected cause her Fianl Year Project is doing Biosensor instead of anything that is realated to Semi-Conductor. But .. But... but .... I still hope she can get the sponsorship la ... hahah

I still can remeber the very 1st interview during last year when I was going to ORD and looking for jobs. I went to this company in Paya Lebar which is doing QC for other companies (sorry, I cannot remember the name). I was so lost and did not know what to answer or just gave single word answer. Guess that time it was because I was out from the real world for too long. hahah

Anyway, after that very lousy interview, I started to pick up from the 1st interview. In fact the 1st job after NS came from the 2nd interview. I am really a fast learner !!! haahha

My point here is that experience really counts when it comes to interview, so if you do not do well for the 1st few ones. Don't be upset. Don't be depressed. Its more important that you get down and find out why didn't you do well and how you should improve yourself.

This is the Taiwanese drama I came across when I was having overtime in the company (better cross my fingers and hope that my manger never finds out my blog)

Anyway, I find it very funny cause it talks about the things that we all encountered (especially girls, cause I am not girls, so I am not sure what happened to them during that period of time) during the stage when boys turn into men or girls turn into women. In case if you are still wondering what stage I am talking about .... hmm... its PUBERTY !!

Yea, a tought night for Wang, despite the fact that he had a quality start, there was not any offense to support him.

Besides, throughout the 8 inning he had pitched, the only thing he did wrongly was the 1st 2 inning where he failed to find the strike zone and allowed his pitches flying everywhere, except going downwards.

Sad man ... I stayed till the end of the ball game, hoping there will be a come back, but as you know, there wasn't

By the way, Zilan (mei) , me and her ex classmates went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3 at The Cathay (The Picture House) this afternoon, the movie last almost 3 hours. However, I still think part 2 was the best. When I watched the part 1 in Australia, Brisbane, I told myself that it was a bad movie, but part 2 really changed my view.

Anyway, despite the fact that it is not as good as part 2, it is still quite entertaining. BUT !!! I really have to say that I am really dispointed with the long fight on the sea ( the whole scene took about 40 min, I think) cause throughout that 40 mins, I only saw 2 ships fighting each other (black pearl and flying dutchman), the rest of the ships were just there for show.

That's the scene I was looking for before going for the movie, but ..... DISAPPOINTMENT !!

Yes, just as what my mei has mentioned, my Liverpool lost. I think, if I am not wrong this is the 1st time in 3 years with Rafa in charge that we did not win anything.

Well, it was a good game as we controlled the whole match but the luck is just not on our side. The 1st Milan goal was a lucky one, a deflected freekick. Anyway, luck is part of the game too, so just forget it and I believe that Rafa will have a stronger team next season to push for domestic title !!

This June seemed to be coming so slow, I have been looking forward to it as Zilan and I are going to Hong Kong. It will be my 2nd time there, but honestly, I don't have much impression with my 1st time there cause I was just a 8 or 9 year boy at that time and I spent most of the time on wheelchair as I had dengue at that time. What a poor kid I was at that time when everyone is having fun and I have to battle the dengue virus on the wheelchair. Hopefully, that this time round, same thing will not happen again.

Trust me !!

This is the 1st time in my life that when I tried to withdraw money from the ATM machine and it told me that "you don't have sufficient fund in your account".

This is really stunning to me as I swear that I remember there are still 1000+ in my account how did it possible that all of it disappeared.

a lot of people are saying that he is not as good as what he was last year. Well, from my point of view, it just a again and losing a game in such a terrible fashion is somewhat a learning process for every pitcher. What is more important is how he reacts to it, in a positive way or negative one.

As what I have read from the press, he responded in a positive way, by taking up the responsibility instead of blaming his team mates. This is what I meant as a positive response. Its truth that he did not pitch well that day, so no excuse. Just admit it, learn from it and do it right in next outing.

Its been a long long time, almost about a year since my last posting.

Firstly .... I have completed my NATIONAL SERVICE in SINGAPORE ..... Hopefully, i don't have to do it in TAIWAN AGAIN !!!

Secondly .... I am already a SINGAPOREAN !!! that is something really worth celebration .... cause now I finally can travel overseas with the new passport after being confimed in SIngapore for almost 3 years ..... what a long time

Thirdly ..... I have changed 2 jobs in the last 6 months, since I ORDED 13 NOV 2006 (What a date to remember!!!) from Quintiles to CIBA Vision .... anyway ... I am going to NIE this Aug .... so treat it as an experience ba

Fourthly ..... I finally went to MALAYSIA ....GENTING...(1st time went to a casino .... but lost 100 RM down there .... I am going to get it back next time) ... after being in Singapore for like 9 years .... I know its really funny ... cause most of Singaporean have been going there in daily basis

cycling with my mei ... together with her uni friends today ... heihei .... then i only realised tat its really been a long time since i last rided on a bike ..... the bike i refer to here .. is obviously ... a bicycle ....

after the cycling ... mei and i went to parkway parade and had our dinner there ..... till recently ... i realise i have been gaining weight .... not because i am having good appetite .... it just tat someone has been treating me "very nice" .... Money Spending Season

have been spending large sum of money lately ... haha ... cause few important things spoiled at the same time ... handphone and my pc .... initially, i targeted to have 10000 saving before i ord ... now .. dunno if i still can make it or not ... hahha .... never mind .. i still have about 10 more monthes to complete it

still trying to recover from the lost of slp on the night with dx at kbox .... tat day was like almost 48 hr without slp like tat .... coming back from 24 hr duty ... then meet dx with my mei ... had dinner in MS ... playing bridge in TCC and ... ended up in kbox all the way till next morning ... on the way back to my home .. my mei lying he head on my shoulder ... BUT .. the funny thing was that her head kept sliding down ... so every here and then i had to shift her head back to proper position .... think .. DX and patsy got c this .... hahah

thanks to mei's cousin ... i got my new cpu le .. .hiehie .... have been playing with my new hp today with my mei ever since i woke up from afternoon nape ..... now she is studying .. hopefully she can finish every thing by today so tat tml .. .we 2 can go together to airport to send patsy off .... i dun want to go alone ... hahha just kidding

陳金鋒 ... to many of u here .... it means nothing ... but to all the taiwanese ... its a name tat can never be forgotten ... cause he had made our childhood dream come true...

many years back ... when i was still in primary sch ... we thought there can never be any of taiwanese baseball play to play in MLB .. the top baseball league in the world ... and the gambling scandle happened in 1996 made me think tat its the end of taiwanese professional baseball league ...i can never watch taiwanese play baseball again

but this guy ... used his power .. speed .... and determinations ... became the 1st chinese or taiwanese to be signed by MLB team (LA Dodgers) ... it was the 1st dream he made real to all the taiwanese ... he showed all the baseball players in taiwan tat MLB is reachable ... and followed him ... many many talented players started to challenge MLB

he then used his home runs in 2001 baseball world cup to bring back the 3rd place by beating Japan and Korea with 2 home runs each in the games ... at the same time .. he brought our passions back to the baseball fields ... people started to believe tat we r the best in asia ... even though ... i think its still some ways from Japan and Korea

in 2003 .. he again used his hitting talents to bring taiwan into olympics ... by beating Korea and China in Asian qualifying game .... he did it when everyone thought tat we were no match to Korea

2004 olympics .... he once again gave us the winning hope .. by hitting a 3 run homer against Japan .... he gave us the lead for as long as 7 innings ... only saw us to lose the lead in the last 2 innings and eventually lost ... i never blame him for not hitting another homer .. cause ... he gave me the hope when i thought its impossible to score any run from the mighty Japan...

this year ... after never securing a 1st team place in Dodgers he finally decided to come back to taiwan to play CBPL .... despite the critics said he should not do tat cause his standard will drop after playing in CBPL .... but for me ... he has done enough for taiwan ... its time for him to enjoy the star status he supposed to have in taiwan and no more struggling to get the 1st place in MLB ...

besides ... i believe tat he will once again ... like wat he has done so many times before ... bring back to crowds back to the baseball parks ... and ... many many young players will follow his foot steps to challenge the top league in the world ..

just watched the pic DX took last week when he went to taipei ... most of them were taken at taipei 101 ... suddenly .. i have a feeling of going back ...

finally .... and hopefully ... i will get a normal pellet count tml as my blood test result ... and tat will mean i can go back to work .... wat a special day to announce my recovery ... cause exactly one year ago ... i was enlisted ...haha

cannot believe tat i have been doing this national service thing for a year already ... good .. !!! tat means my suffering is only left with one more year ...actually i quite like this kind of life saving work ... cause it gives me the chance to save people's life and property ...

this is also partly why i cant wait to be back at work ... cause staying at home for the past 2 duties .... really bored me to death !!! ...cause i was sick .. so i could not travel to anywhere ... all i could do at home were slp .. watch TV .. eat .. then slp again ... keep repeating the same routine ... i even stop playing online game ... cause it made me too bored after 1 day playing it ... i oso dunno who to chat to when i open msn ...

having this illness really made me feel 1st time in my life that i dun know wat to do with my time ...aimlessly hope that the day can pass faster ...haha ...i need to find something for myself to do .. really ...!!

Sick ... Fever .. Dengue!!!

dear all .... its been a long time since my last blog entry ... well ... i cant find any good excuse for this ...

haha ... anyway .. i have been sick lately ... having high fever for the last 3 days ... and being identified as a Dengue suspected case .... adding one more to the record breaking number Singapore has this year ....

till now .. i still dunno how the hell i get this Dengue ... regardless ... its a fact .. all i can do now is to pray hard and hope that my pellet count will be a bit higher than today ... or at least maintain at today's standard ... pls pls ... dun drop anymore... i dun want to go to hospital !!!!

its been a long time since i last posted my blog ...

hmm .... actually i am not sure of the reason why too ...

few duties ago .. i am almost charged ... why ?!!? cause of my nelegence to make sure all the equipments are according to the check list ... but ... ever since my 1st day there .... they are never according to the check list ... anyway ... count me as bad luck to be spot checked by officer

however .. its not the thing concerned me the most .. wat disurbing me is that my crews were charged ... cause of my fault .... and i just got a verbal warning ... this really makes me feel guilty ... very very guilty ......sigh ~~~ why didnt u just punish me ... that will make me feel better ....... its my failure to make sure my men check properly to lead to this mistake

luckily ... nothing happen to them after they were charged .. this made me feel better ..... besides ... i got go to watch firework tonight ... oh ... waw ~~ i have watched many times ever since last year .... hahah .. how lucky i am

the biggest joke ever ...

yesterday was "supposed" to be the day where my cousin going back to taiwan ... but she stayed till this morning .... why ??!!? cause ... cause ... she remembered her flight date wrongly .... and the funniest thing was that .. we only realised when we reached the airport .... waw ~~~

she was actually supposed to be back on 29 which was one day earlier than the day she told everyone ....

a raining day ... today and the past few days

its one of my favorite weather ... hiehie ...

home has become a more lively place ... a place i like to stay more .. cause there r more people staying now ... however its only a temperorily .. well .. but i am satisified with it...

suddenly .. i realised that my counter is increasing graduatly ... arg ... i should said ... very very very slowly ... i still remember 1st hundread was pretty fast ... but after that ... its like a turtle ... moving upwards slowly ... well maybe ... all the people i know have read it ... so its not going to increase so fast like wat it used to be ... i think

i think i have fallen in love with blog writing ... haha ^^ ... even though someone has said tat my grammar is not good ... but ... watever .. i just like to write .. to write anything i like ... and post it without even checking it ... who cares .... cause only this will be my true self .... i am not taking any test ... why make my life so trouble some ..... someitmes .. even myself not sure of wat i am writing .. its all depended on my mood ...

This afternoon .. just when i was enjoying my rare precious off day .. i got a stunning sms from my supervisior ... which said

Lo ... the commander has rejected ur drill report .. can u go back to station and change it now

how stunning it was ... not because i had to go back and do it again ... its because my report was rejected !!! ... oh ... on the way back to station .. i kept thinking wat went wrong ...and guess wat ... the answer was even more stunning to me ...

just wen i opened up the email that commander sent to me ... he said

thank you for the report ... however, its not the format i am looking for .. its too task specific .. lack of depth and width ....

arg ..... the format was given by my fellow enciks ... and its already my 2nd time submitting the report ... if its not the format u r looking for ... why did u wait for so long then mention it !! i was totally feel like being cheated ... very much hurt .. woo woo ~~~

anyway .. just feel being cheated ... i am just too innocent ...believe that the format given by others r always correct ...

just saw the message left by zilan and penny ... feel so touched ... even though penny ask me not to think too much ... but i am still very touched ... haha .... thank u guys !!!!

its beautiful cause i dun have any duty today ... really kind of sick of going to work nowadays .... not because of the fire calls or wat ... but because of all the paper works and politics between the people .. i am just serving my national service ... so i dun want to get myself too deep into this big big trouble

i feel ... i am not wat i used to be anymore ... the ways i think ... the ways i life .. i dunno wat have changed me ... but watever .. i am lazy to think now .. even to think of my own future ....

dun know if its my luck or not ... last mid night during my duty ... i got to c dead body ... a male body on the road due to road traffic accident with lots of blood next to it ... some people went through the 2 years time without seeing anything like this ... and for me ... just the third month ... my clean record is already gone...

dunno why ... after coming back from the call .. i just dun feel well .. not because of the body .. but because of the family and friends there ... they looked so devastated cause one of their close family just left them like that ... just less than a minute time and he is gone .... i dunno wat to say ... just feel life is so unpredicable ...one minute ur friend or family might still smiling in front of u and next minute he or she is no long in this world....

Bridge Night

tonight ... me, t-rex, lili and vy all went to the TCC at raffles place and played bridge there ... after stopped for a long times ... it felt so good .. felt just like back to the old time ... where i still dun have the work stress and unjustice like wat i have now ....

even though ... i lost my way there and walked all the way to Lau Pa Sar .... before i realised the mistake and turn back ... haha ... this is the biggest joke ever

it just too bad that i have duty next day and could not stay there till 2am in the morning ....next week ba .. or the week after next ... hopefully it will come sooner

wat i want ??

"wat do i actually want?" this is the question i have kept asking myself lately .... really ..... nowadays .. my life is only work and work and work and then rest ....

i am thinking ... if ... i mean "if" ... (touch wood) if there is really one day ... i die at home .... there might be nobody knows about that .. untill few days later my body start to decompose ... my neighbour smell the strange smell ... then they will call SCDF for forcible entry ... then my body will finally be found .... if this is true ... how pathetic my life is ..... hahah

anyway ... i think wat i want is a person ... who really cares about me ..... who can talk to me just about anything ...(prefer a gal ... course i am obviously not a gay ... guy and guy talking daily ... this just sounds too gay) ... how i wish that one day ... when i open the door of my home ... there will be someone who is close to smile at me and say ... "hey, u r back" "oh ~~ u r early today oh" or "wat made u so late today" .....

Dragon Boat Festival

today is the annual Dragon Boat Festival again ... this is also another festival that i used to called "rice dumplings festival" when i was small ... cause this day usually meant nothing much to me except for my favorite dumplings when i was small ... i would just keep eating it one by one once my gradmum had made it ...

talking about my favorite dumplings ... this reminds me exactly 1 year ago when i was coming back from taiwan ... "her" mum gave me lots of dumplings cause she told her mum that i like it .... time really past fast ... just less than a year ....she and me are just like strangers to each other ...sigh ~~~ i am getting emotional again ... after half year ... it will means so much to me ... i think .. getting a new gf can help me to forget ... but how to have one when i dun even have time to rest .... hahaha ~~~

anyway .. i got receive a good news today ... my grandmum finally discharged from hospital ... even though i am not sure if she is still as healthy as she used to be .... but i will pray for her ...cause ... i almost spent all my earlier years with her ....she had taken care of me for such a long time ...i will hope to have her around forever ....

today ... in chinese tradition ... family will reunion just like the lunar new year ... even though i am alone here ... but still i wish all the best to all my families ... all my friends and all the people i know ...

last night ... during my duty .. a rare call from my mum ...i knew there was something even before i picked up the call ... but never did i expect that would be such a bad news

my grandmum is in the hospital for days ....from my mum's voice .. i know she was trying to cover her saddness ...so did i ...

i just felt so lost ...a person who used to be the one who always at my side when i was small ... slp with me, brought me around, bought me toys and snacks that my parents did not allow me to have ... is just like everyone else ... start getting old ...and i cannot do anything but staying here ... cannot even go back, c her and just simply ask her if she is feeling well

how much i hope that my ORD date is just within next few days ...

GOD ... pls pls ...let her recover well and back to an energentic grandmum like the one i always have.....

when i heard he said that i have not been doing any work ... my heart was once more in pain after the breaking up late last year .... how could u say this !!!

kind of tired of this kind of shift work ... 24hrs work 48hrs off sounded so good at 1st .. but now then i realised that not slping at night is actually a suffering for me ... i rather do office hr work now ...

last night .... the usual gang gathered at my home except for the poor boy, weili who was somewhere in the sea ... but we did not have steamboat as wat we had planned to have ... instead we just bought the food from down stairs ... and they said ... the food r nt nice at all ... well well ....i have nothing to say ... actually i have been missing the home cook food lately ... guess i have been eating outside food for a long time ... especially the malay food ...i think some of my friends will start to laugh at me when they see this .... well .. i got no choice ma .. unless u people want to bring the food to me to my station

Wang's 2nd win ..

i was so nervous when i watch his shaky 1st inning pitch ... however credit must go to him for settling down fast and started a super pitching from 2nd inning onwards all the way to 6th inning ... through out this period none of the Seattle batter could reach 1st base ... not even the so call the "best batter in the world" Ichiro

he proved once again that he is really a world class pitcher ... but somehow .. i am not as emotional as i was during his 1st win ... maybe he was not in the home ground this time ... or just maybe i am not in good mood

It was so touching to see superstars like A-Rod, Flaherty, and Jeter hanging around Wang to show their support to him. Then it was manager Joe Torre's term to show his approval by patting on Wang's back before handing the ball to the reliever. As Wang walked off the mound towards the dugout, the capacity crowd at Yankees Stadium gave Wang a standing ovation, all 40,000+ of them. What a scene! What a moment for Taiwan! It was a touching moment indeed. I am sure I would have shed some tears if I was there watching the game in person. Who could have dreamed that such a day would dawn when a pitcher from Taiwan can outduel the best hitters in the world, including Ichiro while earning the respect of players like A-Rod, Jeter, Matsui, Johnson, and millions of fans around the world. This is the best publicity for Taiwan. Now more Americans recognize Wang's name than President Chen Shui-Ban's name. Now even the Japanese would know Wang's name because he stole the spotlight from Ichiro vs. Godzilla. Now I can be proud cause there are two Taiwanese pitchers who can pitch in the highest arena of the baseball world and getting good results at the same time. Not wasting my effort to wake up so early to watch the game during my off day.
